Stuart MacDonald & Dennis Rollins
Scarborough Jazz Club kicks off the new year on January 4th with a pairing of two of the club’s favourites: Stuart MacDonald on saxes and Dennis Rollins on trombone.
These two play jazz that is melodic and mellow or exciting and funky and always hugely enjoyable.
They are probably too well known to local jazz audiences to need much introduction. Suffice to say that Stuart plays regularly with several top bands (7 Pieces of Silver, Heavy Horns, New York Brass Band, etc.) and Dennis is an award winning trombonist and leader of Badbone & Co, playing funky dance music with jazz overtones.
In sum, a perfect antidote to post-Christmas/New Year blues. With the MG3: Mike Gordon (piano), Bob Walker (bass) and Tom Townsend (drums)
