The Jazz Aesthetic
Scarborough Jazz Club welcomes to its miniscule bandstand a 12-piece band from the University of Hull, The Jazz Aesthetic. The band was formed in 2009 by Peter Elsdon, jazz pianist and senior lecturer in Music, to give music students a taste of life as professional musicians, since when it has performed at venues around the region playing alongside the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and Snake Davis.
The band plays exciting contemporary jazz by the likes of Bob Mintzer, Michael Brecker, Michael League and Brian Blade, all arranged for the band by Peter Elsdon. This year the band’s expanded percussion section will provide a mix of hard-driving contemporary grooves covering a whole range of different styles.
If you’ve heard top class student bands before, you’ll know how impressive they can be.
