Groove Crusade
We welcome Groove Crusade, a sextet playing new arrangements of the music of The Crusaders, who for nigh on 50 years were one of the world’s leading soul/funk/jazz/blues bands. With their signature sound of tenor sax and trombone allied to classic Fender Rhodes piano, Groove Crusade ventured out into the world to considerable acclaim, just in time for the pandemic! The band resumed where it left off in summer 2022, remaining a labour of love for six of the North’s most experienced players.
Groove Crusade continues to delight audiences with feel-good music, described by one punter as ‘jazz for people who don’t like jazz!’ (as well as those who do). They are Stuart Johnson (tenor/soprano saxophones) David Gray (trombone), Pete Major (keyboards & vocals), Rod Sinclair (guitar), Keith Peberdy (bass) and Tim Franks(drums).
