We welcome Jemima Whyte, a dynamic young alto saxophonist, also originally from Scarborough, now a rising star. From being featured as one of ‘Scarbrough Jazz Introduces’ players just three years ago, Jemima is studying at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama and making waves in the London and UK jazz scene, with a spot in the recent Love Supreme Festival and last December releasing a digital album with a six-piece band, ’Joy Grows’.
Expect an exciting mix of jazz, funk and urban grooves, with Mark Gordon (keys), Rowan Oliver (bass), Moses Carpenter (drums) and Adrian Riley (congas).
Support comes from the young band who have been a source of constant surprise, invention and delight over recent years. The core of BWSF will be moving to study music at Leeds Conservatoire this September.
