Jamie Taylor + MG3
We welcome back guitarist Jamie Taylor. A long-time friend of Scarborough Jazz, Jamie is an engaging performer whose distinctive style mixes the swinging lyricism of Lester Young with the fiery bebop phrasing of players like Tal Farlow and Barney Kessel.
Jamie has built a strong reputation throughout the UK and overseas as a dynamic jazz guitarist and teacher. His playing has been heard at top jazz clubs including Ronnie Scott's, The Vortex, The Troubadour and Pizza Express and at jazz festivals in Manchester, Stavanger and Scarborough. He is principal lecturer at Leeds Conservatoire.
‘An uncanny ability to keep the groove, feel, and melody of any tune going during his improvisations.’ (Matthew Warnock, All About Jazz) ‘Jamie Taylor's edgy fusion guitar burns through...’ (John Fordham, The Guardian)
