Zoe Gilby Trio
We are delighted to welcome back the Zoe Gilby Trio. Returning after nearly three years (it should have been two but terrible road conditions last November forced them to cancel), Zoe brings a powerful collection of songs with a strong narrative, delivered with musical sophistication and dramatic edge.
Supported by husband Andy Champion on double bass and Mark Williams on guitar, Zoe’s stockpile of music includes an adventurous blend of contemporary composers from Kate Bush to Pink Floyd, mixed with songs from her ‘Aurora’ album inspired by compositions of legendary trumpet/flugelhorn hero, Tom Harrell. His melodic, sharply conceived music has been augmented with lyrics written by Zoë.
The sensitive treatment of jazz standards completes this particular ‘story-book’. ‘A wide vocal range, warm timbre and clear diction which she uses skilfully to unveil her moods.’ (All About Jazz, USA).
