Ben Couper + MG3
We welcome Bridlington based violinist Ben Couper for his first appearance at the club. Ben originally trained at Leeds College of Music and uses the electric violin to play in multiple styles and genre. He has a natural ability to improvise and explore timbre and melodic interest using both pentatonic and blues scales. His interest and influences for the jazz violin include Stéphane Grappelli and Argentinian tango player Astor Piazzolla.
Tonight Ben will be playing standards including Summertime, Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, Come Sunday, Misty, My Foolish Heart and many more backed by the house band.
Ben has played the violin for the present King and Queen and has taken his music around the UK and abroad. He also leads the folk/funk fusion ceilidh band The Shamrock Experience.
